Allan Kanner will take part in a panel at the 44th Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (PIELC) on March 12th – 15th, 2026, held at the University of Oregon School of Law in Eugene, Oregon.

PIELC’s 2026 theme, “Fight Back,” emphasizes the urgent need to confront ongoing efforts to weaken environmental protections and undermine social justice. The conference encourages participants to share strategies, celebrate progress, and strengthen collective resolve in addressing today’s most pressing environmental challenges.

Holding Producers Accountable for Natural Resource Damages: PCB, MTBE, PFAS, and Climate Liability as Guidance for Atmospheric Recovery Litigation

This session features leading voices in environmental litigation discussing how sovereigns nationwide are increasingly invoking parens patriae authority to hold producers of PCB, MTBE, PFAS, and fossil fuel products accountable for natural resource damages. The panel will also explore the broader implications of these cases for Atmospheric Recovery Litigation, a developing legal strategy seeking carbon damages that would support regional carbon sequestration initiatives.
